Woodridge Hospital  is an 84 bed psychiatric inpatient facility.  Mental illness can affect persons of any age, race, religion, or income and we treat them all.
Mental illness is not the result of poor personal weakness, lack of character or poor upbringing.  Mental illness is treatable.  Most people diagnosed with a serious mental illness can experience relief from their symptoms by actively participating in an individual treatment plan.

What is the Ridge Run?

The Ridge Run is a benefit ride where participants, on motorcycles, leave a pre-determined location and will ride 75-90 miles to raise awareness and funds to support patients at Woodridge Psychiatric Hospital.

It is our goal to raise community awareness for the treatment of mental illness.  Last year we held the first annual Ridge Run Motorcycle ride.  We had 40+ motorcycles and many participants.  The preparation for this ride is provided by the Behavioral Health Team Members on a volunteer basis.  All of the money raised will be used for the patients who are admitted to our facility.  So often our patients are without personal belongings such as undergarments, clothes, medications and transportation upon discharge.  Money raised will also be used for supplies for the therapeutic programming such as games, videos, workbooks and activities to enhance the recovery and provde tools our patients need to live their life to the highest quality possible.

Mental illness is a medical condition that disrupts a person's thinking, feeling, mood, ability to relate to others, and daily functioning.  Mental illness is a serious medical illness.  It cannot be overcome through "will power" and is not related to a person's "character" or intelligence.  Just as diabetes is a disorder of the pancreas, mental illnuess is a medical condition that often results in a diminised capacity for coping with the ordinary demands of life.
