Mr. W.E. (Bill) Hawkins
Former MSHA Board Chair

Bill's years of unselfish service demonstrate his passion for our region.  He is well-known for his excellent common sense and servant heart leadership, first at the helm of General Shale and later as a board member for many organizations.  One of those was Mountain States Health Alliance, as Bill served actively and faithfully on the MSHA Board in many capacities, including Chairman one year.  Bill always generously gave his time to help improve the lives of those in our region.  To have Bill involved in your organization meant an active member of your board, committed to serving.

He has continued to serve God, his country and his community by following the principles of the Scout Oath and Law.  Bill has served as a Cub Master, an Executive Board Member and as President of the Sequoyah Council, Boy Scouts of America.  He was awarded the Silver Beaver and was named a James E. West Fellow.  He received the distinguished Eagle Scout Award, an honor bestowed upon only a few former Eagle Scouts, setting an example for future scouts to follow.

An active church leader, Bill has served in many capacities at Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church.  He has been Chairman of the Board, Chairman of the Finance Committee, Chairman of the Staff Parish Relations Community, and was Chairman of the Building Committee.  He has been a Sunday school teacher and president of his Sunday school class.

Married to Ann Tranum of Ruleville, Miss., Bill is the father of four children and grandfather of eight.
